Item No.OAI009579
Xtend Controlled Release Fertilisers – Dual Technology

Xtend Controlled Release Fertilisers (CRF) is a unique fertiliser range that combines two key technologies, producing a true controlled release of nutrient. Xtend CRF features OAS’ own ProTect controlled release technology using temperature primed nutrient release, this slows down nitrogen availability whilst reducing environmental impact. When formulated with freely available nitrogen, this combination provides a quick turf response, followed by a consistent release of nutrient over three months.

Xtend CRF 20-5-10+10CaO+3MgO is an ideal choice for early spring and summer applications, due to the inclusion of nitrate which gives an early initial response without any major flushes of growth. 60% of the nitrogen is coatedwith ProTect technology meaning that it is released over a longer period, reflecting the plant’s requirement for nitrogen. The inhibited nitrogen aids any loss of nutrient through volatilisation or denitrification, making it more efficient and alower environmental impact.

The benefit of inhibited nitrogen

The use of nitrogen inhibitors has many benefits, the main one being that it slows down the availability to the plant to extend the longevity of nitrogen applications. It also has a strong environmental impact compared to standard urea as it reduces the chance of volatilisation and denitrification, offering a more efficient use of nitrogen. The inhibitor used in Xtend CRF complements the ProTect controlled release component to provide a combined phased release of nitrogen over a three-month period.

ProTect technology

OAS are delighted to introduce ProTect controlled release technology, with Xtend CRF being the first range to include this innovation. ProTect is a temperature released coating technology that reflects the plant’s requirement for nitrogen. It differs from other products on the market as it is less effected by moisture primed release and offers a more consistent delivery of nitrogen, protecting the nutrient core due to its flexible structure. As a result, the release pattern is more consistent, especially when challenged with prolonged periods of wet weather, improving nutrient efficiency. ProTect is manufactured within Origin group and has been developed using the company’s global experience in this sector to provide turf managers with a high quality, reliable technology.
